De Kamping
‘De Kamping’ is the playground of a small collective of people: Jonas, Karen, Helder, Bianca and Daniël.
On a temporary industrial terrain in the harbour of Gent, we ventured to experiment with living in unconventional housing: small, circular, flexible and creative.
By living and working together, as well as engaging with the given local context, we attempt to explore and re-establish a definition for ‘the good life’.
For Jonas, what makes a good life is: campfires with friends, being nice to people, rescuing and collecting beautiful old objects and chopping firewood.
For Karen and Helder the good life is: gardening, baking bread, cheerfulness, being hospitable, family, picnics and fireworks.
For Bianca and Daniel: working with our hands, cooking together, long walks and long talks, playing music and caring for pets.
Through our choices of housing- whether a tiny house, a modular structure or a yurt, collaboration and exchange of ideas, we try to find simple, slow, sustainable and ingenious solutions for complicated issues.
